Maintenance, Servicing & Repairs
Keeping on top of your systems’ performance
Solar PV is a low maintenance technology: little should go wrong with a well-built system. However as with any complex electrical equipment, issues which were not envisaged such as the environment, third party interference or component failure can cause unanticipated problems.
Over time system faults or component issues such as an inverter failure can occur that can cause losses in generation, costing you money in the long-term. We recommend that you periodically check your equipment, including your inverter for the obvious signs of faults and check your production on a regular basis to ensure you don’t lose out on your valuable income and savings.
However, as with all electrical equipment it is paramount that you follow the safety guidelines set out at installation and do not tamper with any of the equipment. We advise that you have one of our solar electricians undergo a professional service once a year as outlined below. This will help to identify any intermittent faults and uphold any warranties on the equipment you have purchased.
Annual system service
Our recommended annual system service and report – equally beneficial for solar PV and solar thermal technologies:
- Visual check of all rails and mountings
- Visual check of module condition
- Full string test
- Visual & physical check of all MC4 connectors
- Interrogation of inverter display error codes and logs
- Full inverter diagnostic testing and checking of monitoring connectivity
- Visual check of all system AC & DC electrics
