SolarSense will be attending the Green Goals 2026 Conference on Thursday 2 July, joining leaders from across sport, leisure, health, local government, planning, sustainability and the private sector.
The Green Goals Conference, taking place at Manchester Conference Centre, will explore how sustainability is shaping the future of sport and leisure, from the design and operation of facilities to the wider role organisations can play in creating healthier, more active and more resilient communities.
One notable highlight of the conference schedule is a talk from Adrian Thomas, SolarSense’s newly appointed Director of Sales & Marketing. Adrian’s presentation will explore how sport and leisure organisations can reduce energy costs, strengthen resilience and accelerate their progress towards Net Zero. The talk is part of a packed agenda for the day, which also includes sessions led by The Football Association, Sport England, Climate Change Committee, Natural England, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Commmunity Leisure UK and GLL.
Supporting sport and leisure organisations with clean energy
Sport and leisure facilities are often among the most energy-intensive buildings in public and community estates, with swimming pools, gyms, sports halls, changing facilities and floodlit spaces placing significant demand on electricity throughout the day.
For many operators, the challenge is clear: how do you protect essential community services from rising and unpredictable energy costs while continuing to make meaningful progress on sustainability?
This is a question Adrian will look to answer in his presentation, in which he’ll demonstrate how renewable energy can help turn challenge into an opportunity through a range of real-world examples from SolarSense’s portfolio, including Freedom Leisure, LC Swansea, Cheltenham Lido, London Stadium and Bristol Bears High Performance Centre. These projects show how different organisations are responding to their own unique site challenges, from high energy use and constrained roof space to complex infrastructure, visitor disruption and long-term funding considerations.
