CLEAN ENERGY FINANCE AND GRANTS

The Somerset Climate Emergency Community Fund

The Somerset Council Climate Emergency Community Fund was launched 01 October 2020. The grant scheme allows city, town and parish councils and community organisations in unparished areas across Somerset to bid for between £5,000 and £75,000 for carbon reduction projects that contribute to making Somerset resilient to the effects of Climate Change. For more information or to apply for the Community Fund, please visit the Somerset County Council website.

What can the funding be used for?

The Community Fund offers between £5,000 and £75,000 to invest in energy efficiency equipment that will lead to cost and carbon savings for your organisation, including commercial solar panels.

A commercial solar PV system significantly reduces your organisations’ carbon emissions, whilst reducing your long-term energy costs. A typical large-scale PV system will provide free electricity for more than 25 years and provide financial returns of more than 12% per annum.
