Solarsense move into new larger office in Clevedon to support rapid business growth

North Somerset-based solar energy specialist Solarsense is moving into new larger office space in Clevedon to accommodate the company’s ongoing rapid growth.

With rising demand for green power driven by spiralling energy costs and the decarbonisation agenda, Solarsense reported growth of 120% to 6m for 2021/22 and is expecting to increase its turnover by more than fourfold to £25m within the next five years.

The company’s rapid expansion will create dozens of new jobs for the region, with eight new employees coming on board in the past year alone.

The company has been based in Backwell in North Somerset since it was founded in 1995, and for the past five years has operated from a purpose-built zero carbon office. Following the move, the office will be repurposed to provide three low energy homes for the village, complete with photovoltaic roofs and heat pumps.

Managing Director and joint founder of Solarsense, Stephen Barrett, said: “Moving into our new premises marks a big step forward in the expansion of the business. Our vision has always been about changing the way that UK is powered for the benefit of the environment, and by growing our team we will be able to help more companies switch over to solar energy and reduce carbon emissions. I’m delighted to have welcomed eight new recruits to the team this year and look forward to working together towards a more sustainable future.”
