Solarsense Wins Renewable Energy Contractor of the Year 2022

CLEAN ENERGY AWARDS 2022

Solarsense named UK Solar & Storage Contractor of the Year

Solar energy specialist, Solarsense, headquartered near Bristol has been crowned Contractor of the Year at the national Solar & Storage Live Awards.

The industry-leading awards were part of the three-day Solar & Storage Live event at Birmingham NEC, the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition and conference. Solarsense won the top award for Contractor of the Year in recognition of its outstanding 27-year track record of consistently high customer satisfaction, delivery of innovative, cutting-edge projects and commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Managing Director, Stephen Barrett, said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive this award and I would like to take the opportunity to say a massive well done to the whole team at Solarsense for their hard work and enthusiasm which has made it possible. I’m really lucky to work with a talented bunch of people who are experts in what they do and go the extra mile for our clients. We all share a genuine passion for protecting the environment and driving the UK towards net zero, which is what motivates us to keep growing as a business.”

Since being founded Solarsense has installed more than 16,000 clean energy systems across the residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and community sectors. Powering big name brands including Tesco, Lush Cosmetics, the NHS and the RSPB, Solarsense has helped its clients mitigate more than 3.5 million tons of carbon emissions in the last decade alone.

Among its recent clients is precision engineering company Roscomac, which has recently had its second solar PV system installed by Solarsense. Joseph Martello, Roscomac Managing Director, said: “We supply over a million precision engineered parts every year and it’s becoming increasingly important that we minimise our environmental impact, as well as keeping prices as competitive as possible. Installing solar energy was an obvious solution to reducing both our carbon footprint and our energy costs

“We contracted Solarsense to install our first panels in 2018/19 and were so pleased with the results that we have recently gone back to them for a second phase of work. The full system now supplies 25% of our power usage which makes us greener and more resilient as a business. Solarsense were great to work with and clearly experts in their field.”

In addition to Solarsense’s expertise in solar PV, the company has also been a pioneer in promoting solar thermal technology and integrating multiple technologies to enable further carbon and financial savings during the ongoing energy crisis. Recent projects include the installation of solar thermal at Easton Leisure Centre, which reduced the pool’s heating bill to zero within six weeks, and an integrated clean energy project for Avon Fire & Rescue service which led to the service being selected as one of the UK’s climate leaders by the Cabinet Office.

As well as driving the uptake of renewables, Solarsense takes its social responsibility seriously, investing time and expertise in direct support of selected charitable projects throughout the UK and beyond every year. In 2022 Solarsense has supported The Friends of Bristol Haematology and Oncology and Rainforest Concern as well as starting a second phase of work at The Brightwell Centre (West of England MS Therapy Charity) which includes funding a heat pump, LED lighting and EV charge points.
