The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced its final decision on the new Feed-in Tariff rates for 2016 and beyond – just days after the historic Paris Agreement was agreed at the UN conference.
The Government has heeded the evidence and unprecedented support for solar power and cut tariffs by only 64% instead of the original proposal of cuts of up to 87%. This is a much less aggressive approach and although it is not perfect is a much better proposal than before.
A list of the new rates can be viewed on the Solar Trade Association website by clicking here. The new tariffs will come into force from 8 February, and the deadline for projects to receive the current higher tariffs is now 15 January.
