Deadline set for MCS certificates required to claim RHI

Homeowners with renewable heat technology installed since July 2009 have until 22 October 2013 to ensure they hold a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certificate, otherwise they will not be able to claim the RHI.

While most system owners will have received an MCS certificate as part of the installation process, many homeowners who installed in 2009 and 2010 may not. This would leave them unable to claim the Renewable Heat Incentive when it comes into place in 2014.

If you are unsure whether you have an MCS certificate we would advise that you contact the company that installed your system to ensure you are able to claim the RHI next year.
