Solarsense Joins Ameresco in Delivering Lightweight Solar PV Solution for London Stadium

Solarsense is proud to partner with Ameresco in the installation of solar panels at London Stadium. This collaboration is part of an ambitious project to transform the iconic venue, once home to the Olympic & Paralympic Games, into one of the world’s most sustainable sports and event locations.

Ameresco, a leading energy service business specialising in cleantech and renewable energy infrastructure, won the contract to install, operate and maintain the solar membrane panels. The £4.35 million project will enable the Stadium to save more than 200 tonnes of carbon emissions a year and will generate enough to power all the venue’s major events, including football matches, concerts, and international athletics. The solar PV system, covering 6,500 square meters, utilises ultra-thin solar panels from Polysolar and SolarEdge optimisers and inverters. The system was meticulously designed to maximise energy generation while seamlessly integrating with the stadium’s architectural constraints. The project, which also includes LED lighting, energy-saving kiosks, and improved air handling, is expected to reduce the venue’s energy consumption by 3 million kWh by 2026.
