Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic cells which capture and convert the sun’s energy into direct current (DC) electricity. This DC electricity is then passed through an inverter which converts it into alternating current (AC) electricity and can be fed through a meter into your consumer unit.
Your system will automatically use the free, clean electricity you’ve generated before switching back to the grid as needed. If you have a battery storage system integrated any surplus electricity generated will be stored for use later on.
