CLIENT
Printwaste is an award-winning recycling and shredding service based in the heart of Cheltenham.
Established in 1983, the business has thrived due to their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint, acting responsibly and offering value to their stakeholders.
In 2017 Printwaste won a National Environmental Award for their sustainability credentials and installation of their solar PV system.
TASK
To support their environmental focus, Printwaste contracted Solarsense to install 384 solar panels on the roof of their high security shredding facility in Cheltenham.
The electricity generated by the solar panels is used to power the energy intensive shredding machinery and has resulted in a 51% reduction in electricity costs for the company.
The solar PV system will reduce the organisations’ CO2 emissions by more than 44 tonnes per year, payback in year 6 and is estimated to produce a total benefit of £444,192 for the business over 20 years.

FROM THE CLIENT
In the early 1990s we recognised that the change in public attitude towards a ‘green agenda’ was impacting on the commercial and business sectors, and this led us to a major expansion of our recycling service.
