Client

A major presence on the high street across Britain, Lush manufactures and supplies fresh, handmade cosmetics and beauty products. Founded in 1995, Lush Cosmetics is 10% Employee Owned and is dedicated to providing high quality, sustainable beauty products with minimal packaging.

Lush has declared a climate emergency. The organisation is moving away from fossil fuels, using cleaner transport, protecting and plant forests, divesting our money from climate destroying funds. Lush want to focus on the long horizon of becoming truly carbon positive with a no carbon offsetting policy.

Across the UK & Ireland, Lush have 88% of their estate supplied by Ecotricity’s 100% renewable electric tariff. This is the maximum amount of properties that can be with Ecotricity in UK&I and the company are now exploring ways to generate their own clean energy to further improve their sustainability.

Solar Panel System

As well as purchasing truly green electricity through their partners Ecotricity. Lush Cosmetics has started to invest in generating their own clean energy on-site with commercial solar panels.

The 127kWp solar panel installation at the Lush manufacturing unit in Dorset is comprised of 378 solar panels and is estimated to produce approximately 130,085kW hours of clean energy per year. As well as significantly reducing the costs associated with manufacturing, the large-scale solar panel system will mitigate 36,027kg of carbon emissions per year.

“We installed a 126kWp solar PV system at our HQ in Poole via Solarsense. It was a ‘perfect’ installation from our perspective. Low disturbance, professionalism, respect for the building tenants and clear communication. Many thanks to the team involved. It’s given everyone a lot of confidence to expand the roll-out in the future.” Jack Gale – Utilities Lead, Lush Cosmetics
