Feed in Tariff to close in April 2019

The sun is soon to set on the Feed-in Tariff (F.I.T) – a government scheme designed to promote the uptake of renewable technologies will end in April 2019.

The scheme was a temporary incentive designed to increase awareness and attractiveness, allow the technologies to mature and reduce the overall implementation costs – all of which was a success – the overall cost of installing solar PV for example is now less than half, meaning that in real terms the return on investment today for high energy users is similar to what it was when the F.I.T was first introduced.

The F.I.T was introduced on 1 April 2010 and is now set to close in April 2019.

As a result, 2018 is set to be a very busy year for the solar industry as will be the last chance consumers will have of obtaining F.I.T payments when installing a system.

The F.I.T scheme offers a guaranteed index linked return per year for 20 years which is worth THOUSANDS over its term. For example a typical 50kWp system costing £45K for instance can be expected to obtain £49K in F.I.T payments alone!

We are urging anyone considering an installation to act as quickly as possible to ensure their installation can be completed before the end of 2018 to avoid any issues in the final quarter for obtaining the F.I.T if over-subscribed.
