The University of Nottingham is a public research university in Nottingham, United Kingdom. It was founded as University College Nottingham in 1881, and was granted a royal charter in 1948.
The Centre for Sustainable Chemistry is housed in a brand new carbon neutral laboratory, the first of its kind in the UK.
Solarsense beat off the competition and were appointed by Morgan Sindall to design, supply & install a solar PV system for UoN.
The system was designed to combine with a biodiesel CHP generator to provide the building with its electricity supply. Any surplus energy is utilised by the neighbouring Sir Colin Campbell building, which is on the same supply circuit.
The award-winning solar PV system combines 666 traditional roof mounted solar panels and 22 bespoke building integrated solar photovoltaics (BIPV), in the form of semi-transparent glass roof lights (below).
