Portsmouth City Council power social housing with solar PV

Portsmouth City Council are using solar PV to help power the communal areas of two of their blocks of flats.

The systems on Horatia House and Leamington House are wired into the buidlings’ electrical systems and will power the communal areas of both blocks of social housing.

The systems, on the East and West roofs of the two blocks, will each provide more than 26,207kWh of electricity per year and reduce annual carbon emissions by over 23 tonnes.

Being on the 17th floor the installations required precise wind load calcualtions to ensure the Axitec solar panels will remain securely in place over their predicted 25+ lifetime.

Could they be the highest solar panels in Portsmouth?
