North Somerset bees swarm to Solarsense

John Penrose, MP for Weston-super-Mare, officially opened the North Somerset Beekeepers training apiary at our carbon-neutral Technology Park last weekend.

The organisation will use the apiary to run training courses for members from 2014. Beekeeping has seen an increase in popularity over the past few years due to raised awareness of the sharp decline in the honey bee population.

“After nearly two years of searching for a new site, we beekeepers have finally celebrated the official opening of our new teaching apiary in Brockley,” said Wendy Welham, chair of North Somerset Beekeepers organisations, “Geographically central to this wide spread branch, our members can now improve their skills and learn new ones.”

Richard Simon, Solarsense Solar PV Technical Director commented, “We are delighted that we can assist our local beekeeping organisation. As well as being our place of work, our Technology park forms part of a natural ecosystem, one that Solarsense will continue to support and develop. The bees are welcome neighbours.”

The event was attended by many including several thousand well behaved bees.
