The Solarsense Sustainability & Conference Centre consists of the Solarsense Head Office, Renewable Technology Display and the Zero Carbon Hub & Training Centre.
As a responsible renewable energy supplier we believe it’s important to practice what we preach. The Sustainability & Conference Centre allows us not only to personally install and test the renewable technologies we supply but also provides a space for the wider community to learn about and become engaged with sustainability and environmental issues.
Solarsense welcome visitors and are happy to arrange a meeting and guided tour of the technology display with one of our knowledgeable sales consultants, just simply call the head office and ask for either reception or the sales & marketing department to book an appointment.
Solarsense also host a range of renewable presentations, CPDs and business breakfasts covering a range of topics. For more information please call 01275 461 800 or click here.
In 2012 Solarsense bought the five acre site next to our existing warehouse and office with the aim of transforming it into a regional centre of excellence for renewable energy, sustainability and biodiversity.
The Sustainability & Conference Centre was developed in stages and with due consideration to neighbours, parishioners and the wider community and now embraces sustainable land management and biodiversity.
With this blend of green technology and green pastures Solarsense envisage a regional centre to welcome householders, business owners, schools and colleges; a place for education and information on all things renewable and sustainable.
To this end the company have also purchased three acres of land adjoining the technology park on which it is developing a Zero Carbon Hub. This will be open in early 2016 and as well as providing an engaging environment for members of the public, architects and consultants to see how easy it is to incorporate renewable energy, the building will also feature tours and a space for business breakfasts, seminars and workshops on renewable technologies and energy efficiency.
Currently we generate our own electricity from 100kW of solar PV, and produce our own heat from a commercial scale wood pellet boiler and a ground source heat pump. Other technologies installed include an air source heat pump which provides heating for our offices, and a solar carport which charges our small fleet of electric vehicles. We are also researching and testing a range of energy storage technologies and hybrid PV/Thermal panels.
As a testament to the work carried out to date we are pleased to have been awarded an A+ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). This means we officially produce more energy on-site than we consume and is a great demonstration of how businesses can reduce their overheads and help the environment while remaining commercially viable.
The Solarsense Renewable Energy & Conference Centre encompasses much more than just renewable technologies; it also embraces sustainable land management and biodiversity. As part of this wider aim we have welcomed North Somerset Beekeepers who have set up a collection of beehives for the purposes of training potential beekeepers and producing honey. The area around our apiary will be seeded with wild flowers and close by we have planted an orchard of English fruit trees. The surrounding paddock areas will remain as grass for sheep grazing.
With this blend of green technology and green pastures we envisage a regional centre to welcome householders, business owners, schools and colleges; a place for education and information on all things renewable and sustainable.
